The International Organization for Human Rights and Refugee Affairs, headed by Dr. Majed Al-Rakbi – High Commissioner for the Middle East and North Africa – announced the launch of an urgent humanitarian campaign titled “Nafas – Your Right to Life”, in cooperation with the International Aviation Services Organization (IASO), led by Dr. Munir Khalifa.
This campaign comes in response to the environmental and humanitarian disasters caused by the devastating wildfires that broke out across large areas of the Latakia countryside and the Syrian coast, threatening the lives and safety of thousands of civilians.
The “Nafas” campaign aims to:
- Support firefighting and rescue teams working tirelessly to control the fires despite difficult terrain and limited resources.
- Provide urgent humanitarian aid to affected and displaced families from high-risk areas.
- Distribute essential relief supplies, including water, food, medicine, and temporary shelter.
- Conduct awareness campaigns to protect residents from fire hazards and the health risks caused by dense smoke.
- Honor volunteers and field workers in recognition of their heroic efforts in saving lives and combating the fires.
Dr. Majed Al-Rakbi stated in his official statement that the International Organization for Human Rights and Refugee Affairs has mobilized its field teams and opened the door for volunteering under a structured plan, the details of which will be announced soon. He emphasized that “the right to life is sacred, and every life we preserve is a step toward hope.”
Dr. Munir Khalifa, President of IASO, also affirmed his organization’s full commitment to providing all necessary support for firefighting and rescue operations, including ensuring the aerial delivery of aid if required.
The organization concluded its statement with an urgent call to all international and humanitarian entities and donor institutions to participate in this campaign, stressing that solidarity today is a lifeline to save thousands of lives and support the resilience of families facing this disaster.
